Schumer Racing Drivers

Christy Schumer # 7676

At first, when Christy saw David race, she thought it was not too cool. We put her into David's car once, with an alcohol engine on it, and started it. Christy, not knowing that the car vibrated, freaked out, shut the car off, and didn't want anything to do with it. Then finally, she came around. We put a gas motor on David's car at the end of 1997 and she raced it at Rocky Mountain Raceways the last race of the season which was the fun race. Her second time down the track, her R/T was a .519. After that we went to Boise, Idaho for the Halloween Classic. We had put a alcohol motor on then, and she did alright for it being her second race. Then we went to Las Vegas in November of '97. Out of the whole weekend, her worst light was a .520! She ended up taking third place in the 8,9 & 10 year old class. The 2004 season was her final in Junior Dragsters, she turns 18 on July 9. Within the next few years, she will be cruising in a 225" Perea Super Comp Dragster! Watch out big boys.. here she comes!!

For the new 2005 season...

Christy is currently competing in the High School bracket at Rocky Mountain Raceways. Her first race she scored semi-fianl honors in her mom's Chevy Aveo! We have purchased a Firebird and are currently "spicing" it up for the track!

Travis Schumer # 719

Travis has always wanted to race a Junior. His birthday is at the beginning of October, so when he turned eight, our racing season was over at RMR. We stuck him in the litte red car, with a gas motor, and went to Pocatello, Idaho for their last race of the season. It was a fun race, so nothing was on the line. His first time down the track, he raced Christy. Well, after the run, Christy had gotten out of her car, and Travis was coasting off of the track. She went and asked him what happened. He said he didn't know what happened, he held the gas down and just heard a big BOOOOM and the motor shut off. Well.. the rod went through the front of the block! We forgot to tell him that you're supposed to let off the gas after the 1/8th. Travis has done very well in his racing so far. This upcoming 2005 season would be his 5th season of racing.

For the new 2005 season...

Travis decided to sell his Jr. Dragster, and buy a 4-wheeler. He is currently 14 years old and has a job at the local amusement park Lagoon.
