2005 Schumer Racing Results

April 24, 2005

This was Rock Mountain Raceways first race of 2005. We sold the Jr.s during the off season, and were only planning on going down to watch. Roylene recently got a new Chevy Aveo car and Christy had tried to convince her to let her race it in the High School bracket. After several hours of hard begging, Roylene gave in and said Christy could run it. Lindsey Anderson came down from Plymouth and we headed off to the track. It was VERY akward not having a Jr. to run. We felt very empty & sad when we saw all the other Jr. racers. We got to the track around 3:30 and pulled to the back by the Jr. racers. We BS'd with them until they called the Jr.s to the lanes. High School was one class after the Jr.s so we drove up & watched them run. Cars had broken down on the track & it took FOREVER to clean it up. I think our first run was at 7:45 that evening. Christy first run was in the right lane. She had a .245 light & ran 19.55 (12.75 in the 1/8th! WHOA what a change that was!) Christy thought she had redlighted because had she left at the same time in her dragster, she would have had a massive redlight! Second time trial was a little better. She had a .084 and ran 19.70. First round came up & guess who was #1 qualifier?! WITH AN .084! Christy had to race a girl first round & the other girl redlighted and Christy ran a 19.797 on her 19.80 dial. Second round Christy had the bye, had a nice .053 light, and ran a 19.84 on her 19.80. Third round, Christy was paired up against a camaro running 13's. She had a .150 to his .084, and broke out by a ton! She ran a 19.66 on her 19.80.. soo she lost in the semi's. Although we weren't racing a jr., being at the track and running was still great fun. CONGRATS TO THE OSTLER'S FOR TAKING BOTH TITLES IN THE JR MINOR & MAJOR BRACKETS!!

2004 Schumer Racing Results

April 10, 2004

This was Rocky Mountain Raceways first Test-N-Tune of 2004. We don't have Travis' car quite done yet, but Christy's was ready to go, so Travis will be running NEXT saturday. We threw on Christy's new 3.5 Rhino friday nite and went to see how fast the "BIG DAWG" would go. We pulled into the track around 10:30, and got everything ready. The wind was blowing REALLY REALLY hard, and the temps were between 40-50* all day! First pass, Christy had a .485 and ran 8.19. We went back to the trailer and changed the jetting a little went back up and had .489 and ran 8.40. Went back to the trailer and again played with the jetting. Last pass of the day was a .582 and ran 8.15. Very good runs with how bad the weather was! We are going to change a few things around, and we are shooting for the big 7.90 at our first points race!

Next Race:::: RMR Test-N-Tune #2 April 17, 2004

April 17, 2004

This was Rocky Mountain Raceways second Test-and-Tune. We were planning on only having Travis run this Saturday, but Christy's new clutch showed up Friday afternoon, so we threw the motor and clutch back on, tested it in front of the house, and decided we'd run both cars at the TNT. We got down to the track around 10:00, we brought Christy's friend James Bates with us. We got inside, unloaded everything and got the cars all ready to run. Christy got a new clutch from Mr. Craig Blossom, and we were hoping it would fix the problems we had the first TNT. First pass down the track Christy had a .489 and ran 7.80 @ 84.4 MPH!! What a pass! The weather was COLD and windy like last week but nowhere near as bad. Travis had a .589 and ran 9.05. Second pass, we turned out the air screw on Christy's car, left Travis' alone - went up and Christy ran 7.91 (didn't get a R/T on that run, comps. were screwed up) and Travis ran another low 9 second pass. We figured the 7.91 on a nice, warm day would turn into a 7.85-7.80, so we tried to slow her down again, and on our third and final run Christy went 7.99 @ 84.5 MPH, Travis ran 9.21. This was a great day for us at the track, considering the bad weather conditions and poorly prepped track, we ran rather well! Our first points race is this coming Friday, hopefully we will run just as good!!

Next Race:::: RMR Street Legal #1  April 23, 2004

April 23, 2004

This was Rocky Mountain Raceways first points race of 2004. We got down to the track at around 4:00, payed and got in. We unloaded the cars and got them all ready to go. We built a really cool rack for our flatbed trailer, so now we can haul both cars, the golf cart, and the dolley, so we had to unload a lot! We pulled into the lanes, and the track had water seeping through it - or something like that - we had to wait for about an hour for them to dry it. They now have the LED's at Rocky Mountain, so instead of .500 being perfect, .000 is perfect. First pass for Christy was 7.85 at 82 mph with a .016. We went back to the trailer and added some weight, went back up and went 8.18 at 80 mph with a .084. On Travis' first time run, he didn't get a time on the boards, so he went back up and he ran a 9.46 at 72 mph, with a .026. Second pass Travis went 9.20 at 73 mph, with a -.015. First round Travis had Cody Sanders. Travis was dialed 9.35, Cody was 9.30. Travis got a .133 to Cody's .084. Travis caught him but ended up breaking out and ran a 9.06 to Cody's 9.47. First round Christy had Tiffany Dabney. Christy was dialed 8.15, Tiffany was 8.42. They went up to stage, and while trying to roll into the Stage light it didn't go on. We had to shut the cars off and wait to run last cuz the motors were so hot. They fixed the lights and Christy got a .189 to Tiffanys .112. Christy ran a 8.26 lifting, and Tiffany ran 8.40. Second round Christy had Cody Sanders - if Travis would have won first round, they would have met 2nd round - when Codys dad went to fire his car, there was alcohol pouring out of it, and so Christy got a single. She was dialed 8.23, had a .064 and went 8.30. Third round Christy had Casey Ostler. Christy was dialed 8.28, Casey was 9.63. Casey redlighted with a -.018 and went 9.99. Christy went 8.58 running it out the back door. In the final Christy had TJ Smith. Christy was dialed 8.58, TJ was 8.33. Christy had a .151 to TJ's .147, and she was WAAAYY ahead of him at the end and she lifted about a car length before the mph box and still ran a 8.36! TJ also ran an 8.36, but Christy took 2nd place. Very good start to the season! Also, the new driver Derek in the Rookie class did a very FINE job of runner-up!!

Next Race:::: RMR Street Legal #2 May 7, 2004

May 7, 2004

This was the second points race at RMR for the 2004 season. Mom had to take us down to the track because Jay had to stay at work until 4:30. We got down there rather early, got everything ready and first passes of the day were a 8.97 for Travis, with a .085 light; and with 8 lbs on the car, a 7.86 for Christy with a .116. We went back and added more weight to Christy's car and on the second time run, she went 7.79 with a really bad bog at the light resulting in a .230 light. Travis ran a 8.92 with a -.119 light. First round, Travis had Cody Sanders again. Travis was dialed the quicker 8.87 but he got treed, and Cody beat him to the line. We added more weight to Christy's car - we hadn't reached 25 lbs yet - and dialed 7.90. She had Casey Ostler. Again there was a bog, but this time it was MUCH worse - Christy hit the gas, and the car just sat there for a minute, and by the time it finally went, Casey was long gone. Christy ended up running a 7.94, with a .275 light. Later in the nite, we got a time only, and found our problem, got the bog fixed had a .046 light and ran 8.00 (it had REALLY cooled off) and so both Christy and Travis will be ready to kick some BOOTAY at the next race! Congrats Casey for winning Major and Jakey for Minor!

Next Race:::: RMR Street Legal #3 May 21, 2004

May 21, 2004

This was Rocky Mountains third points race of 2004. We got to the track and the wind was blowing, humidity was up, and it was FREEEZIN! We got there a little later than usual so we got everything unloaded and ready in record time.. no joke! lol. First runs of the day, Travis had a -.003 and ran a 9.01. Christy had a -.026 and ran 8.07. Got back to the trailer didn't touch the cars, they ran great considering how cold and humid it was! Went back up for our second run, Travis had a -.068 and ran 8.96. Christy had a .024 and ran 8.08. First round, Travis had Becca Isbell. Travis was dialed 8.94, Becca got him at the tree big time, a .006 to Trav's .234, Becca beat him to the line with Travis finishing out with a 8.96. Christy had Cody Chamberlain first round. Christy was dialed 8.05, Cody was 9.54. Christy had a .027 to Cody's .218, Christy got past him a little past half track and lifted and ran a 8.15, Cody ran a 9.69. Second round, Christy had Taylor Campbell. Christy was dialed 8.05, Taylor was 8.37. Taylor redlighted with a -.076, and Christy got a .000, yes a PERFECT light! Taylor ran a 8.34, Christy ran an 8.11 with the carburator falling off just before the 1/8th. Third round, Christy had Casey Ostler. Christy was dialed 8.08 to Casey's 9.58. Casey got her at the tree, a .072 to Christy's .120, but Christy got around him lifting and ran 8.21 to Casey's 9.79. In the finals we had Jaycee Pettry. Christy was 8.14 Jaycee was 9.57. Christy got her at the tree, a .030 to Jaycee's .054, got down to the end, Christy passed her and lifted - if she woulda hit the brakes Jaycee would have gone right around her - but still ended up running an 8.12, and Jaycee ran a 9.58. Great job to Jaycee Pettry for winning, and to Derrick for runner-up in rookie again! For Christy's perfect light, she gets a savings bond, and by making it to the finals qualified to run the next BIG Saturday race!!

Next Race:::: RMR Jet Car Spring Nationals May 29, 2004

May 29, 2004

This was RMR's Jet Car Spring Nationals. We were able to run at this race because Christy made it to the finals the week before. Saturday, we weren't scheduled to run until 2:30, so we showed up at the track at around 11:30-12. The sky was filled with clouds, the wind was blowing, all in all a bad day for a race. We pulled in and saw that the left lane had been closed because it had been raining every day for the last week and the Water Table was so high underneath the track, that water was seeping out of it. They ran the right lane all day, absolutely no runs in the left lane until Eliminations started. First time run, Christy had a .041 and ran 7.93. Second time run, she had a -.014 and ran 7.94. First round, she had the bye. We decided to run the left lane because we needed to get an idea of how much we would slow down if we had to run in it the next round. Right before Christy's run, the guy who makes the end of the year banquet video rigged up a little camera in Christy's car and positioned it so it was facing her. Christy had a .100 and ran 8.22 out the back door. The track was SOOO slick, when we watched the video, you could tell how slick it was by how much Christy was actually having to drive it. Second round she had Jaycee Pettry. It had warmed up a little so we dialed 8.10, Jaycee was 9.54. Christy was again in the left lane, she had a .009 to Jaycee's .054. Jaycee ended up breaking out ran 9.43, Christy ran 8.25. We went back to the trailer and as we were filling up with alcohol, all the cars in the Staging Lanes started driving back. They had called the race because of the left lane. It was so slick, many, MANY people were all over the place and close to the wall and center line. Even Christy's car was scooting all over the place. So, they said they would finish the race Sunday. We got down there at 11:30, in the time run she had a .040 and ran 8.03. First round she had Ricky Bax. Christy was dialed 8.00, Ricky was 13.54. Christy had a .029 to Ricky's .224 but just after the 60' the tire grabbed onto the air filter and ripped the carburator off. But, Ricky broke out. He ran a 13.18. In the final, Christy had Tyler Priest. Christy was dialed 8.00, Tyler was 10.somethin, lol, and Christy redlighted -.006. Down track, the carburator fell off AGAIN and Christy coasted to running a 7.95 at 74 mph. So we got second AGAIN! Four races, Three trophy's.. not too bad!!

Next Race:::: RMR Street Legal # 4, June 4, 2004

June 4, 2004

This was Rocky Mountains 4th points race of 2004. The temps were WAY up at this race, at around 6:00 it was 96*!! Travis didn't race at this race because yet again, grades are low! So, first pass for Christy she had a .098, the car would NOT leave the line-- we couldn't get the idle above 3.50, and then the carburator came off just after 60'. They pulled her back, put the carb back on, went back up had a .121 and again, carb came off. We went back to the trailer and firgured that it was falling off because the boot that holds the carb to the manifold was being eaten away by the alcohol. Our friend Mike Campbell let us run one of his boots for the carb, so the 2nd time run Christy had a .201 and went 7.84. We could not get the car to leave! The idle wouldn't go nearly as high as we needed it, but we couldn't do anything about it. Jay figured out that there was too much weight in the clutch, and the jetting was wrong. First round Christy had Ford Anderson. Ford redlighted with a -.086, Christy left on the 2nd yellow and still had a .302 and the carb fell off and she went a killer 8.92 on her 7.90 dial. Second round she had Taylor Campbell. When his dad Mike found out we had to race them, he jokingly said.. uh, Jay, I need my boot back! LOL. Taylor got Christy at the tree and Christy ended up breakin out running a 7.86 on her 7.90. Christy is currently tied for Second place in points with Cody Sanders, and is only one round out of first!

Next Race:::: RMR Street Legal # 5, June 25, 2004

June 25, 2004

This was RMR's 5th points race of the season. We are half way done now! We got to the track and the temps were HIGH! Randy Bullington came down from Idaho to help us try and figure out why Christy's car was not reacting when she would hit the throttle. They changed around the clutch and the carb to no avail. Then, while we were in the staging lanes, Jay saw that some part on the carburator had been bent when it had fallen off the car, which was causing our problem. So, the first time run before we figured that out, Christy had a .048 (leaving on the second light) and ran 8.07. Then the second time run, she had a -.033 (leaving where she usually does, but the idle was up) and ran 7.94. First round Christy had Tiffany Dabney. We dialed 7.90, Tiffany was 8.25. Jay started Christy and Randy had pulled her onto the track, and was backing her up to get a little water on the tires and accidently clicked the kill switch off that was on the steering wheel. Jay hurried and restarted the car, we did the burn out and Dabney -- seeing that our car had shut off -- hurried and fully staged. Randy got Christy right up to the line, didn't adjust anything so that we didn't make Tiffany burn down. Christy pre-staged and then clicked her Digatron over to the Tach.... it was 4800 when we usually run it at 3800! Christy seeing this sat at the tree just a little longer than normal, but still redlighted. She had a -.043, but the real heartbreaker was Tiffany had a .112 and ran a 8.41 on her 8.25, and Christy went 8.07 (no heat in the motor). So we figured out the problem with my car, but got hurried so it turned out bad. But, there is always next race!!! Christy is currently only 3 rounds out of first place!

Next Race:::: RMR Street Legal # 6 July 16, 2004

July 16, 2004

This is the last race at RMR before the Western Conference Finals in Denver!! We showed up at the track and it was HOT! At the last race we figured out our problem with getting the car to leave. First time run was not too good.. Christy had a .245 and ran 8.36. The wind was blowing like CRAZY, we were suprised they let us run! We went back and changed the carb, and the clutch. Second time run Christy had a .017 and went 7.95. First round Christy had Ford Anderson. Christy was dialed 7.92, Ford was 9.21. Christy had a .017 to Ford's .033, and Ford broke out running a 9.15 and Christy went 8.09. Second round she had Lindzo Anderson, she is running Travis' car. Christy was dialed 8.06, Lindsey was 9.30. Lindsey ended up redlighting with a -.037 and went 9.41. Christy had a .073 and went 8.28. Third round she had Brandon Lynch. Christy was dialed 8.25, Brandon was 8.88. Brandon also redlighted with a -.037 finishing with a 8.90. Christy had a .053 and went 8.38. In the final Christy had Cody Perkins. Christy was dialed 8.39, Cody was 9.97. Cody had a .014 to Christy's .290. When Christy hit the gas, the car hesitated, and then when she started catching up to Cody it layed down about half track. Chrsity ended up running a 8.42, and Cody went 10.06, but Cody got the win. Christy is currently TIED for FIRST place in points!!!!

Next Race:::: Juniorfire  Boise, Idaho  July 24, 2004

July 24, 2004

This was our second trip to Juniorfire in Boise, Idaho. There was two seperate races.. the first an age bracket race, where the winner recieved a trophy. The second a thunder/lightning race, winner recieved a mountain bike and a wally. We left friday morning to get to Randy Bullington's house to work on Christy's car. We got there at about 1:30, and unloaded both cars. We brought Travis' car for Gary Bullington to race, because Travis' grades forced him to not race. We put a new weight tank on Christy's car, and loaded them up in Randy's enclosed trailer. Randy was nice enough to let Jay and Christy stay the weekend at his house. We got to the track about 7:30ish Saturday morning. We got in and first time run, Christy's car hacked a little at the line, and really bad until about half track. After half track, the car ran hard and clean. She ran a 7.90. Gary ran good in Travis' car, a high 8. We got the car back to the trailer, changed the jetting and added a little more weight. Second time run, the car ran worse. We couldn't figure out what was wrong with the car, and why it wasn't leaving. The first round of the age bracket race, it was random pairing. Christy got lined up against a girl from Canada. The car didn't leave at all, it cut out so bad Christy had a .9 something light..so, she just shut the car off just past 60', the car wasn't going to run. So, she lost first round of the age bracket race. Gary had the bye first round, and he made it to the semi's, then lost. In the wally race, Christy had Seth Mclean first round. The car left A LOT better, she got him at the tree an .040 to his .090. She almost caught him and the car started cutting in and out. So, she lost first round in the wally race also. Gary made it to the second round and lost. It was a fun trip, but the car ran like poop! But, we changed the weights in the clutch, and hoped it would run better in Denver.

Next Race:::: O'Reilly Auto Parts Junior Dragster Western Conference Finals -- Bandimere Speedway  Denver, Colorado,  July 24-31

July 24-31, 2004

This was the big race of the season. Over 500 racers attended the WCFs. We left Sunday, and had some truck problems and were stuck in Evanston for a while. Thanks to TRENT and RANDY for all your help! We left again for Denver Sunday night. We drove for a few hours, then stopped and slept in a Wal-Mart parking lot for a few hours. We got to Denver at about 3:00 Monday morning. We lounged at the hotel because it was too late to go to the test n tune. We took the car to the track, towed it inside by our golf cart, and put it in Jerry Chatwins trailer (THANKS JERRY). We went to six flags on Tuesday, the track had a race for the 8-12 year olds. Wednesday we finally got to race! First time run, the car didn't run good. What we changed at Randy's didn't really help it. The car was running outstanding ET, but it wouldn't leave the line hard or clean. It would bog, or cut out really bad. We changed a lot of stuff, anything we could think of that would cause it to do what it was doing. Nothing helped. First round came, and the kid Christy was lined up against red-lit!! Second round, she had to race the boy who was 1st in points at Bandimere. She got treed, but she had almost caught him, and then her car started cutting in and out. So, she lost. Thursday we got 2 time runs for the big event Friday. Jay was talking to Craig Blossom about our problems. He was helping in every way he could. He gave us a clutch and carb to try to see if that was it. It wasn't. We changed EVERYTHING we could think of, but nothing worked. Friday morning came. We got one last time run before first round. The car ran the same .. not good. First round, Christy had a black car that was running for team Bandimere. Christy got her best light of the week first round. She had a .065, but the other kid had a .002. Both of them broke out, but Christy broke out by more. Although the car ran badly, we still had a lot of fun, and we cannot wait to go again next year!!! Thanks Craig Blossom for helping us in every way you could!!!! Congrats to every on team Rocky Mountain Raceways, you did AWESOME!!!!!

Next Race:::: RMR Street Legal #8 August 13, 2004

August 13, 2004

This was Rocky Mountain's 8th points race of 2004. They had race # 7 while we were in Denver, but no points were awarded. The first run, Christy redlit, she had a -.137, apparently we fixed our problem with the car leaving. Second run, she got a .017 and ran 7.94. First round, she had Lindsey Anderson. Christy redlit, and lost. Since Christy went out first round, we were going to let her boyfriend Jason run her car after the next round, for a TO. The following round, Lindsey lost. She is running Travis' car, so Christy got the great idea to run against Jason in Travis' car. We had the pedals and everything adjusted for Jason in her car already, so she would just run Travis'. Everyone was telling Jason he was going to lose, even though Christy's car is MUCH faster than Travis' is. Christy had a .112 to Jason's .287, but Jason went 8.23 in Christy's car, and Christy went 9.12 in Travis' car, and Jason won. He kept saying "I beat the champ, I beat the champ!!!" That's all we heard for about 3 days after the race, lol. Christy is now 4 rounds out of first place =(

Next Race:::: RMR Street Legal #9 August 27, 2004

August 27, 2004

This was RMR's second to last points race. The car started the bog thing at the line again, it wasn't leaving at all. Christy had Cody Sanders first round, and she got treed and lost. Jaycee Pettry lost first round also, so Christy was still only 4 rounds out of first place!! She might still do it!

Next Race:::: RMR Street Legal #10 FINAL POINTS RACE September 10, 2004

September 10, 2004

This was RMR's final points race. Christy was only 4 rounds out of first, so she still had a chance. The bog had re-surfaced and the car left bad. Christy had Jaycee Pettry first round. Jaycee was in first place, so this was a critical round. Christy got treed, but Jaycee took the stripe by over .2 (WOOPS!) and broke out, giving Christy the win. Second round, Christy had Ford Andersen. Ford got Christy at the tree, but he also took the stripe by too much and broke out. After the run, Ford's dad made the comment to Jay "What's wrong with Christy's car? A .113? That's an uncharacteristic light for her!" Many people were noticing it wasn't leaving good. Third round, Christy had Peyton Hall. If she won this round, she would have second place sealed up, and would only have to go one more round to be tied for first, which would result in a run-off. She again, got treed, but Peyton didn't break out. Christy lost, which made a 3-way tie for second place. TJ Smith ended up winning the race, which also tied him for 2nd place in points too. So, Christy and TJ were drawn to race, and Cody Sanders and Casey Ostler were drawn to race. TJ won and Cody won. In that final decision race, Cody redlighted, so TJ got 2nd place. We were all out of first only by 20 points, it was very close!!! Christy ended up tied for 4th, so she was invited again to the King of the Hill shootout at the final race at RMR.

Next Race:::: Black Diamond Motorsports presents the KING OF THE HILL SHOOTOUT September 25, 2004

September 25, 2004

This was a special 16-car field race put on by Brandon and Michelle Lundeen. They provided the money for a Winner trophy, Runner-up trophy, 2 Semi trophys, and plaques for all 16 competitors. Everyone got two time runs, then a third "best package" run for a savings bond. We missed the first time run, but the second run, Christy got an .030 and ran 8.09. On the best package run, she got a .113 (bog) and ran a 8.01 on her 8.03 dial. First round, she had Scott Randolph. He races the old Just Chillin car! He was dialed a 13.10 and Christy was 7.99. He redlighted so Christy won. But WOW, what a LONNNNNNNG wait! Second round, she had Austion Ostler. He was also a 13 second car, but he got Christy at the tree and she lost. CONGRATS to BRANDON SMITH for winnnnnning!!!!!!!

Next Race:::: HALLOWEEN CLASSIC XI, Firebird Raceway in Boise, Idaho October 16-17      FINAL RACE OF 2004!

2003 Schumer Racing Results

April 24, 2003
This was Rocky Mountain Raceways Street Legal points race #1. The weather was HORRIBLE! Half of the Junior racers were not there because of the off and on rain. First time run, Christy's car ran 9.05 and she had a .537. Second time run, Christy's car ran a 9.12 and she had a .512. First round we had to race Jaycee Pettry. Christy got her on light; a .588 to a .702, but Christy got around her, lifted (a little too much) and Jaycee came back around her. Christy ran a 9.23 on her 9.14, and Jaycee ran a 9.90 on her 9.84 dial. Jaycee got there .0001 before Christy.
Next Race:::: RMR Street Legal #2 May 2, 2003

May 2, 2003
This was Rocky Mountain Raceways Street Legal points race #2. Christy's car ran a 9.11 and 9.17 in the time runs. During first round of eliminations. Christy's motor blew up about a car length before the stripe. She pulled over, expecting to have lost, but her opponet, Rikki Perea, who had dialed 9.20 had a ran a 9.14 and broke out! Christy coasted across the finish line with an astonishin 10.93 on her 9.15 @ 40 MPH. We got back to the trailer, and tried to start the motor. It didn't work. Our friend Jody Petitt had lost first round, so Tim Petitt offered us her motor to finish out the race with. Christy ended up beating Brandon Lynch--running right on her dial with Jody's motor she had never ran, Peyton Hall--she treed him and he broke out, and losing to Neisha Mackay in a close final by .014
Next Race:::: RMR Street Legal #3 May 16, 2003

May 16, 2003
This was Rocky Mountain Raceways Street Legal points race #3. Christy had to run her motor from last year because her 3" is now somewhere in Michigan. Last year we ran 11.0's with this motor. First run off the trailer 10.05. Christy won first round beating Tommy Vogel, Christy's .524 to Tommy's .714 got her to the line .1295 before Tommy. 2nd round, Christy had to race Amanda Hansen. She owns Christy's old car. Christy had a .540 to Amanda's .530, but something happened to the clutch and it dragged the motor down, and fell off 2 tenths. Peyton Hall got the boot outa RMR for running 86 MPH on our first time run. He ran 86 at our last race, and was warned, but went 86 and got put on the trailer. Sorry Peyton, you're a great guy!
Next Race:::: RMR Jet Car Spring Nat's May 24, 2003

June 20, 2003
This was Rocky Mountain Raceways Street Legal points race #5. On the way to the track, Christy and mom had some real problems with the truck. It overheated due to low oil, and took us TWO HOURS rather than 45 minutes to get to the track. We finally got down there and got the car ready. First time run, Christy had a .477 and ran a 10.35. Second time run, .481 and ran a 10.32. First round we had Rikki Perea again. In fear of redlighting, Christy was going to go easy on the light. She got a .640 to Rikki's .667. Christy was dialed 10.33 and lifted and ran 10.50. Rikki was dialed 8.50 and ran 8.72. Second round she had Taylor Campbell. Christy was dialed 10.34 and Taylor was 8.44. This was Rocky Mountain Raceways Street Legal points race #6. The temps were up around 100* until about 7:00. First time run, Christy had a .757 and ran a 10.05. Second time run she had a .503 (#1 qualifier) and ran a 10.02. First round she had a single, had a .530 and ran a 10.02 on her 9.95 (spun real bad). Second round was a REALLY close race. She had to race Cody Chamberlain. Christy was dialed 9.98, Cody was dialed 9.54. Christy had a .527 to Cody's .501. They got down to the stripe and they were side by side. But, Cody lifted too soon, so Christy got ahead of him, tapped the brakes and ran a 10.01 to win. Third round we had Peyton Hall. Christy was dialed 9.99 and Peyton was 8.03. Christy had a .632, but Peyton redlighted a .382 to give us the win. Christy ran a 10.14 on that run out the back door. Fourth round she had the bye. She had a .685 and ran a 10.07 on her 10.05. In the finals she had to race Cody Perkins. Christy was dialed 10.03, Cody was 9.71. Christy had a .505 to Cody's .585, but they hot-lapped us and the motor was still real hot, so it slowed down a tenth and Cody got there .005 before Christy. Next Race:::: Western Conference Finals- Bandimere Speedway ~ Denver, Col. July 28-Aug 2

July 28-Aug 2, 2003
This was the Western Conference Finals in Denver, Colorado. We arrived in Denver Monday morning at about 8:30. We pulled into the parking lot to find about 20 rows of about 30 trailers or more! We waited in the parking lot for 4 hours, and then finally when we got up to the gate, they told us if we weren't planning on racing today we had to park somewhere else. So, we drove around to try and find a place to park. We finally found a place, parked, and started unloading stuff. Then a guy from Bandimere came over and told us that we couldn't park unless we were planning to race. My mom just told my dad that we'd run it so we didn't have to load everything back up, and have to park outside. We got 2 time runs for 50 bucks..CRAZY! The car ran about 6 tenths slower than we ran in Boise, but we left it alone because there was no air, but it was running real consistant. We went to Six Flags on Tuesday, then Wednesday we had a shootout for the 13-17 year olds. The car ran almost exactly what it had run on Monday. Christy had a .557, then a .494. First round we dialed 10.19, Christy got treed, and ran a 10.182 and lost. Thursday we got 2 time runs. Car ran very consistant again. Friday morning we got 1 time run. First round we had to race a car dialed 8.09. Christy was dialed 10.18. Christy had a .530 to the other kids .622, she lifted and went 10.28 and won. The other kid went 8.088. Then at the top of the hill, Christy clutch guard broke right off! We borrowed a salsbury clutch guard from a guy from our track and put stuff away for the night. Saturday we didn't get any time runs. We dialed the car 10.20. Christy had to race someone dialed 8.51. Christy had a .538 to the other kids .620 lifted and ran 10.29 winning, other car ran 8.55. Third round Christy was dialed 10.23, the other car 8.65. Christy had a .527 to the other kids .638, Christy lifted running 10.27 winning, other kid ran 8.67. Fourth round Christy was dialed 10.23, other car 9.35. Christy redlighted with a .464, losing to the girl who ended up winning the 15 year old class.
Rocky Mountain Raceways Team #1 was first in the team points up until the Semi's, then they fell to 3rd place. This was a VERY fun race, and we can't wait to go again next year!
Next Race:::: RMR Street Legal #8 August 22, 2003
(They had race #7 while we were in Denver, but no points were awarded)

August 22, 2003
This was Rocky Mountain Raceways Street Legal race #7. The weather was grey, and it started to rain as we were pulling out from home. We got down to the track, and the wind was blowing really bad, and the sky was absolutely black with rain clouds. We got into the track and it just started to pour. It rained until about 5:00, and then we got our time run in. Christy had a .531 and ran a 10.06. We only got one time run due to the weather. First round we had Taylor Campbell. Christy was dialed 10.03, Taylor was 8.90. Christy treed him..her .559 to his .738, but the humidity had gone up to 61% and we hadn't realized it, and Christy ended up running a 10.29, Taylor ran 8.95. Christy is now only 10 points out of first place at RMR.
Next Race:::: Woodburn Memorial Day race Aug. 30-31, 2003 Woodburn Dragstrip ~ Woodburn, Oregon

August 29, 2003
We left for Woodburn, Oregon Thursday afternoon at about 4:00. We got to about Star, Idaho at 9:04, and the water pump went out in Tim Petitt's truck. We got that fixed thanks to Randy Bullington. We were back on the road at about midnight. We drove most of the next day until we got to the track. We got there and realized we were allowed to test Friday nite. We had just put the 3x3 back on Christy's car and were going to run it for the first time since it blew up in May. First pass... 8.19 with a .547, but we turned 9800 RPM's! We changed the sprocket and went out and before we pulled up to the track, a guy came and asked us if we wanted to have a dial-in just for fun. We said 8.10. Christy had a .509 and ran an 8.10. Saturday we had one race for Jr. Thunder, Jr. Lightning, and Jr. Fast. Christy went to the Semi-finals and lost to Jamie Hoffman in Jr. Fast. Her dad changed around the car to try and get rid of a slight bog at the line. Well, he got rid of it but the car slowed down about a tenth. Sunday we had 3 races. Two chances to win Wally's, and one Second chance race. Christy red-lighted to Adam Depeel in the first race for a wally. Then in the second race, in fear of redlighting, she went easy on the light but the girl she raced didn't have a great lite either, so it was really close at the end, but we lost to Kristi Dever by .01. In the second chance race, Christy went up to the line, and her car would not roll into the beams. She had to rev it up a lot to get it to go and accidently rolled in deep. She waited and got a bad light, and the car fell way off because it was hot. So we were done racing for awards. Then our good friend Randy Bullington asked Christy if she wanted to race his son Gary's car without any weight on it. Gary has a 3 1/2, and it was running 7.80's with tons of weight. Christy ended up going 7.50 @ 87 mph in his car! That's the new WOODBURN TRACK RECORD!! And she spun real bad. All in all we had a GREAT time! Congrats to Robby Hoffman, Charlie Tiller, and Allie Clements for winning Wallys!! Also congrats to Darral Petitt for runner-up in the 1st race for a wally against Adam Depeel!
Next Race:::: RMR Street Legal #9, Sept. 5, 2003

September 5, 2003
This was Rocky Mountain Raceways Street Legal race #9. It was nice and sunny, the temps not too high. We got to the track, and had changed the jetting and the first time run was horrible. It fell all over the place and ran a 8.92. We went back, changed the jetting again, and we went up for the run. Christy left the line and the chain popped off. We rolled her back, slipped it back on, pushed her back up and ran a 8.89. First round we dialed 8.88. We had to race Lindsey Anderson. Christy had a .533 to Lindsey's .624, Christy ran a 8.90 and Lindsey ran a 11.95 on her 11.80. Second round we had Jaycee Pettry. Christy was dialed 8.88, Jaycee was 9.52. Jaycee redlighted a .491, and ran 9.35. Christy had a .678 and ran 8.87. Third round we had Rikki Perea. Rikki was dialed 8.20, Christy was 8.85. Christy had a .613 to Rikki's .647. Christy ran a 8.90 lifting, and Rikki ran 8.32. In the finals we had Ford Andersen. Ford was dialed 9.35, Christy was 8.85. Christy had a .640 to Ford's .591, but Christy had passed him at half track and lifted and ran 8.90 for the win! This race was a "Jr. Dragster Challenge" race, so she got a 11th Anniversary crystal trophy. She's now in first place by 30 points with one more race to go!!
Next Race:::: RMR Street Legal FINAL POINTS RACE. Sept 19, 2003

September 19, 2003
This was Rocky Mountain Raceways FINAL points race of 2003. Not only was it the last race, but it also was JAY SCHUMER'S 44th Birthday!! We got to the track at around 3:45-4:00. We brought Christy's friend Alex to film a movie about Christy racing for their Creative Writing class (that was REEEAL fun!!) First time run, Christy had a .468 and ran a 8.68. It had a slight bog on the line, so Jay turned the air screw out and on the second time run Christy had .495 and ran a 8.79. First round we had Taylor Campbell. Christy HAD dialed 8.78 up until the very last second when everyone was slowing down so we changed it to 8.79. Taylor treed Christy, and forced her to break-out running a 8.786 on her 8.79. Christy got down to the end and was hoping so very much that Brandon Lynch would beat Neisha MacKay. Neisha was only 30 points behind Christy going into this race, and could've easily taken first place with Christy losing in round 1. When Neisha and Brandon turned the corner at the end of the track... Neisha went flying past Christy and her friends. Brandon pulled up and had both arms hanging out the car with two thumbs up letting us know he won!!!! Neisha and Christy were so far ahead of everyone else, that it was between those two for the Championship. SO, Brandon Lynch ended up winning the race beating Ford Andersen in the finals; and Christy took the 2003 RMR Track Championship This coming saturday, the top 3 kids from Major, Minor and the top 2 from Rookie will have a shoot-out for "King of the Hill" at RMR.
Next Race:::: RMR NIGHT OF FIRE / RACE OF CHAMPIONS Sept. 27th, 2003

September 27, 2003
This was the very last race of the season at RMR. It was a Saturday race (all day race) and we were able to race there because Christy won the Major bracket. The night before Ron Craft roped off a section of the pits right after the staging lanes (where the Juniors usually pit) but since it was a huge saturday race, they were the first spots to go..soo he saved enough room for us 8 Junior racers. We got there at a very early 8:00 in the morning!! We were the first ones to pull in. They opened credentials at 9. We got inside, and got the car all ready to run. First time run, Christy had a .492 and ran a 8.78. Second time run, Christy had a .573 and ran a 8.84. Our third time run was a little different than usual. They were going to make the ladder off of a "best package" time run, so the motto was "cut a light, and dial it tight!" Christy had a .608 and ran a 8.85 on her 8.80. She would have run a lot closer to her dial, but at about half track, the motor cut out. Christy ended up getting the second best package run. We were lined up against Brittani Bachman. She was one of the Rookie racers. She was dialed 12.94, Christy was 8.82. IT WAS A VERRRRRYYYY LONG WAIT!!! Christy got her at the tree her .594 to Brittani's .620. Christy was just about to pass Brittani at half track, when again, the motor cut out, but it was MUCH worse this time!! Christy couldn't catch her in time, and Brittani ran a 12.94, and Christy ran a 8.87, Brittani getting to the line .02 before Christy. TJ Smith ended up winning the shoot-out with Brittani being the RU. We had SUCH a great time at this race!! It was NOT sponsored by RMR, but by Brandon Lundeen. He put up over $1,000 in trophy's and plaques. The winners trophy was 6', second place was 5', and semi's was 3 1/2'. Thanks so much Brandon, you are so awesome!!!!!
Next Race:::: HALLOWEEN CLASSIC X, October 18-19 Firebird Raceway ~ Boise, Idaho

October 18-19, 2003
This was the 10th Annual Halloween Classic at Firebird Raceway in Boise, Idaho. We left Friday afternoon at around 3:30. We arrived in Meridian, Idaho at about 7:30. We stayed at our friends' house for the weekend. Saturday morning, we got to the track a little late. The computer & flyer said the gates opened at 9:00, so we were there at 8:25. But, the night before they had announced that gates were going to open ealier, so we didn't know about it. As we were pulling in the gates, they were calling Jr. Dragsters to the pre-stage area (a little triangle where the Jr.'s can wait until they are called to the actual lanes). So, we got to where our friends had parked, and got our cars ready. Travis got to race Cody Sanders' old car. We hurried and got the cars ready, and pushed the cars up. We got them teched, and Travis went up for his first run down a track in a year. He ran a 12.20, with a .607 light. Christy's first pass she ran a 8.74, with a .479 light. Christy's car was cutting in & out really bad due to a blown gasket. But we didn't have one to change it with, so we ran it hoping it would be OK. First round was random pairing. Travis lost on a break out, during his time run his header was loose, we fixed it, and the car ran faster. Christy won first round, due to her opponent redlighting. Second round, Christy lost with a .468 red light. Sunday we didn't get a time run. Travis won first round beating Alyssa Wheeler. He treed her, and ran a 11.95 on his 11.90. Christy raced the girl who bought Camille Shaffer's old car. The other girl had the advantage off the line, but Christy drove around her, and Christy lifted BEFORE the MPH box, and coasted to the finish, BUT she broke out. On Christy's last pass Saturday, the motor ran bad, cutting in and out, and she ran a 8.75. So, Sunday we dialed a 8.70. She lifted that much, and ran a 8.67. Travis had the bye second round. Third round, he got treed, but passed the kid, but he hadn't raced in so long, so he didn't know to lift and he broke out. This was a VERY fun race, and we had a great time! Congrats to Casey Depeel on winning both days in Lightning!
